POSITION: Intake Assistant
REPORTS TO: UM Supervisor, Clinical Director
SUMMARY:
The Intake Assistant monitors incoming phone calls from new patients seeking clinical services, obtains demographic and insurance information, and schedules patients accordingly with HBI Clinical Services and/or refers patients to HBI’s network providers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- GED or High School Diploma
- Two years prior experience in a clinic or hospital environment that included UM services
- Minimum of one year experience working with health insurance carriers and a general understanding of health insurance programs in a utilization review capacity
- Experience with word processing software
- Experience and knowledge of managed care health insurance programs
- Experience and knowledge of utilization management application
- Working knowledge of Community resources and Case Management
- Experience and knowledge of Medical Manager program (preferred)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for intake information of new clients which includes taking the information from the phone and entering the information into the Medical Manager system.
- Follow HBI’s policies and procedures
- Report to the UM Supervisor issues that are critical to patient care, i.e., suicidal and homicidal behavior and other red flags
PERFORMANCE/TASKS:

Answer phone calls received at the intake desk

Verify eligibility from electronic roster and/or telephonically

Run New Guarantors Report daily

Run New Patient Report daily
