HBI’s approach to behavioral health care is innovative, dynamic, solution-focused, and diverse – where the clinical practice is interdependent with managed care obtaining data from these two integral functions in order to develop and implement targeted programming to address issues and provide solutions. “Maintaining URAC’s accreditation since 2007 is a recognition of our commitment in providing high quality programs and services to our members and partners”, declares HBI Founder and President, Anis Abi-Karam, Ph.D. “Accountability, creativity, and measurable outcomes are hallmarks of our behavioral and mental health care services.”

“Appropriateness and efficiency are words to live by in meeting new value-based goals for population health. HBI’s URAC accreditation shows an ability to abide by the gold standard when it comes to performing Health Utilization Management functions,” said URAC President and CEO Kylanne Green. “URAC’s utilization management accreditation standards promote an evidence-based and reasonable review of services that respect both patients and providers.”

NHSC Site

HBI Las Vegas and Reno locations are National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Approved Sites, allowing HBI clinicians to qualify for assistance in their repayment of outstanding qualifying school loans through the NHSC Loan Repayment Program (LRP). Thus, enhancing HBI’s efforts in recruiting highly-qualified and dedicated mental health and substance abuse clinicians.

The NHSC LRP is administered by the Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW) in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The NHSC LRP seeks primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, certified nurse ‐midwives, physician assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, and behavioral and mental health providers (health service psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychiatric nurse specialists, and licensed professional counselors) to provide culturally competent, interdisciplinary primary health care services to underserved populations located in selected Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).  Human Behavior Institute (HBI) is located in a selected HPSA for Mental Health services.  In return, the NHSC LRP assists clinicians in their repayment of outstanding qualifying educational loans. NHSC Loan Repayment funds are exempt from Federal income and employment taxes. These funds are not included as wages when determining benefits under the Social Security Act.

For questions about the NHSC LRP, please call 1‐800‐221‐9393 (TTY: 1‐877‐897‐9910), or email GetHelp@hrsa.gov, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays) 8:00 am to 8:00 pm EST.
