Individual Counseling

Although there are many types of treatments, individual therapy is essentially a collaborative relationship between you and your therapist. You are responsible for deciding the ultimate course of action.

Your first visit is an evaluation session lasting about 45 to 50 minutes. At the end of your first visit, your therapist may recommend follow-up visits which can be weekly or a different schedule based on your mutual agreement. You and your therapist will determine your treatment goals and plans within the first few sessions, initially focusing on developing skills in managing crisis and stressful situations by utilizing available support systems. Your therapist will discuss any procedures, risks and benefits, and any alternative types of treatment.

While we expect that therapy will be helpful, there is no guarantee. Every therapeutic experience is unique to the individual. You have the right to terminate your treatment at any time. However, we request that you discuss your concerns with your therapist or our Clinical Director before you leave.
